Hi Guys,

Just looking for a little advice regarding our cleaner shrimp ... since we added a 10w sterilizer and changed from marine halide to T5 lighting the fish  tank glass has been building up with algae much quicker and also our cleaner shrimp has gone from a very clean shrimp to have dirt / algae across it??

Has anyone seen this before? / any advice on this?

I've not heard of it before to be honest. Could be that the change from Halide to T5 has had a effect on the photosynthesis of the algea. Slowing your flow rate down on your uv may help to kill more off. Im sure it will settle down soon tho but its hard without knowing the spec of your tank and set up.

All the best
Kieron

what is the spectrum of the tubes ?

I know my t5 rig is far brighter then my halides an uses twice the power so dont use it any more, more light source more algae also make sure you have the correct flow rate for the uv size

I used to have a cleaner shrimp that used to grow red algea on his antena, every shed you could garuntee that 2/3 days later it would be sporting a lovly red algea moustash.
