Acclimating corals
« on: November 11, 2011, 09:35:58 AM »
How do you acclimate your corals i always did mine for at least 30 to 60 minutes swapping over small amounts of water during this time. Then i spoke to a guy who i knew who had a large LFS and he said he sat all the bags in the tank to raise the temp and then sat them straight in the tank and they will be fine. I tried this on my next coral i bought and have done this ever since as it as not made any difference to them at all so who does it this way or do you acclimate them. chris  :)

We do exactly that float to raise temp then put them straight in. This method is fine until you have major differences between the travelling water and the tank water but in reality with softie and even lps the worst that will happen is that the sulking for a few days which they do anyway.
Happy to help with any issues you may have......

Happy reefing

Been doing it this way for years & years, corals do not have possess a central nervous system like fish and critters, hence why they do fine with the sudden change in water parameters, well as long as it going into good quality water that is  :D.

I float mine for 20min the put in to a bucket small or large depending on how much i am aclimatizing and drip them for an hour and the ready to put in.

Have tried the straight in method for corals, but have alway had difficulties for some unknown reason.
