*****WARNING SUMMER IS COMING: OVERHEATING RISKS*****
« on: March 12, 2012, 05:21:00 PM »
**********************THIS IS A WARNING FOR ALL REEFERS****************************

Alright every one and listen up. Summer is comming and that can mean only one thing.......some of us will cook livestock and thats bad thing

So make sure you are well prepared for summer, when the temp rises so does your tank and when water temps get to 30deg's + then you will be at risk of losing/damaging/stressing livestock.

Biggest risk areas are for newbie that have not been through summer yet, upgraded equipment esp lighting, uv etc all generate heat which may be untested during high temps, or struggling with high temps already then now is the time to resolve them issues before its too late.

So just like you prepare your car for winter please can i ask you prepare your tank for summer, so get a plan together:

Here is some helpfull info: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-06/nftt/index.php

Happy reefing to all and enjoy your summer...............................without worring about you tank.....

I have LED lighting and the temp never varies much only 1 degree i have a TC 1000 which Kev did for me and it is wired for heaters and fans so when it does go over 25 the fans come on and my room where the tank is is due south and gets sun all day long but it never overheats. eric :86:

I am looking forward to my new azoo quad fans, which i cited to blow on my 100mm deep waterfall from chamber 2 to 3 on my sump should scrub the heat off nicley, esp with that 250w MH over the tank..

But it is surprising how many people are struggling with temp issues now let alone when outside hits 30degs +, i do see alot of people with plug and play units that suffer temp issues in hot weather
